However, one issue that can come with decorating an extension is where to start. With so many great colour combinations out there, it can be somewhat overwhelming to know what is going to be right for your space.

Neutral tones
The most popular colour palette to decorate an extension in has to be neutral tones. This is because these often-lighter shades are going to really help to brighten up the space and ensure that all the light in there is maximised.
Some people think that neutral tones can be somewhat dull, but this definitely doesn’t have to be the case. Sure, you can go for white and cream, but neutral tones can also be lighter browns, yellows and grey too.
Light blues and greens
If you want to keep your colours light, but you don’t fancy the usual neutral tones, then another option that you can consider is lighter blues and greens. These still allow for your extension to be as light and airy as possible, but they are still able to bring a touch of colour into the space.
Go bright
As much as there are people who prefer lighter shades, there are also those who want something a little more dramatic in their home. If you choose a “darker shade” but don’t want to ruin the overall look and feel of your extension, then you should look at the brighter end of blue and green.
These will bring the extension to life, but you do need to think about whether you have enough natural light coming in to work with these brighter shades. If you are feeling especially brave, then you could even think about going even brighter with red or orange shades. But, be aware that these shades can be hard to work with, so you will need to work out how you can include them in your extension.
