Skylights are the most popular option for getting the most natural lighting into your kitchen extension. Patio doors are typically made from wood with glass windows in them, which means they allow in the least amount of lighting unless you have glazed panels either side of the doors. If you have a living area beyond your kitchen space, you can have different lighting to suit the more relaxed atmosphere, by using lamps with warm lightbulbs.
Finally, a big factor to how light your extension will be is your colour scheme. It is best to keep your kitchen light and airy with paler, more neutral colours. If you do want to opt for a darker tone, make sure that you contrast it with lighter furniture and fittings so you don’t make your new space seem smaller than it is.
