London House Extension Case Study
Brief: single storey rear kitchen extension to a mid-terrace house on Minard Road, Catford, South East London, creating a larger kitchen-dining room, utility room and ground floor toilet.
The Design and Build process
To discuss the feasibility and cost of extending this mid-terrace property, our client was visited in their home for a free site survey. Following the survey our client was given a free quotation within 7 working days, including a full breakdown of the costs they could expect to pay throughout the build project.
Once our client was happy, our design team was introduced to help take our client’s vision for their house and translate this into a feasible design plan. With plans sent off and approved by Lewisham council, the construction team was brought in to bring the plans to life, and the end result was absolutely stunning.
We love the contrast our client introduced between the kitchen and dining space by opting for a retro-style grey patterned vinyl in the kitchen, versus a warm and rustic wood flooring in the dining space. The new kitchen island also serves as the perfect plan for preparing food and enjoying a spot of breakfast.
Introducing a wealth of natural light into the new kitchen dining extension and saving on the electricity bills, a triple set of skylights were installed. To help bounce the natural light around the room our client opted for a minimalist white palette, with glossy countertops and storage spaces.
To open out into the garden and bring additional light into the new space, a large set of bi-folding doors were also added.
Finally, as brilliant touch for bringing some warmth into the new kitchen dining extension, our client chose a honey-coloured wood dining table with matching chairs.
