Brief: Side return extension creating a larger kitchen / diner space with bifold doors and ground floor bathroom to a property on Brookdale Road, Lewisham.

The Simply Extend team identified that a side return extension was the perfect fit for our clients on Brookdale Road in Lewisham, London. A side return extension allows for extra living space as well as adding extra value to their property.

Our clients opted for a strip of glazing above the dining table space, enhancing the lighting around the socialising area. To continue the bright feeling of the space, LED strips have also been used for lighting underneath the cupboards, elevating the space whilst at the same time having the versatile element of lighting in a crucial area of the kitchen.

Pendant lighting options have been chosen for above the dining table, allowing a lovely amount of ambient light for social gatherings, whilst at the same time creating a lovely feature. The pendant lighting is also supplemented by the natural light flowing in from the glazing above the side return extension.

The kitchen has a very spacious floor area, perfect for socialising with friends and family, as well as having enough space to cook delicious meals. Throughout the eye-line of the kitchen, there is a strip of LED lighting on the ceiling truly elevating the space into a modern, stylish space.  This type of lighting can be used alone on an evening to create stunning, ambient lighting, or in addition to natural lighting in the daytime.  The LED feature lighting also elongates the length of the room in a unique yet contemporary way.

A comfy, cosy corner with a cloud like sofa has been placed beautifully beside the window, yet away from the kitchen space, overlooking our clients beautifully, landscaped garden. Sofas are a great addition to a kitchen and diner space, as they make a truly social area. If sitting on high stools or at the kitchen table isn’t where you want to indulge in a book, but you’re craving the bright lighting of the kitchen diner space, then a sofa is the perfect option. It also adds a softer element to a kitchen space, with everything usually being hard materials such as wood or marble.  The sofa breaks the room up and creates a wonderful contrasting space for those mornings or evenings to unwind. Sofas also add an extra seating area for guests at social events in the home.

The client has opted for stunning, practical bifold doors. We often don’t take full advantage of our gardens, especially if they are on the smaller size, but, bifold doors are the perfect way to bring some natural light into the extension. Bifold doors are also perfect for those social events in the warmer months.
