Brief: Ground floor side & rear wrap-around extension to a mid-terrace house, not in a conservation area, creating an open plan kitchen diner space & ground floor bathroom.

Simply Extend were delighted to begin building this wrap-around kitchen extension in Tottenham, North London. Our site surveyors determined a wrap-around extension to this mid-terrace house, not in a conservation area, would be the best option for our client to maximise space. This extension created a bright kitchen extension with stunning glazed glass panels and bifold doors to connect to the outdoors.

The kitchen extension has two Velux skylights installed into the eaves that flood the kitchen with natural light, with one directly above the kitchen area and the other situated along the walkway. The Velux skylight windows allow important ventilation to the kitchen area, providing fresh air while preparing and cooking food. Two dropdown gold accented lights are situated above the marble breakfast bar for additional lighting and downlights are also found either side of the skylights to ensure good lighting during the evenings and those greyer London days.

The U-shape kitchen maximises space while maintaining all the essential kitchen areas required, including a convection hob with an extractor and large space area for preparing or serving food. Our client decided on a stunning dusky blue colour palette that compliments the slate grey colour of the bifold doors and a simple white design for the splash back tiles to create a clean, classic look. The fridge has also been integrated into the kitchen units for a uniform look.

The standout feature of this kitchen extension is the glass shard panel that connects to the bifold doors. This stunning addition provides optimal natural light to the kitchen with a strong connection to the garden. The large, glazed panel to the right of the bifold doors opens the space greatly, making a smaller living area appear much larger. The bifold doors provide a further connection to the garden, allowing ventilation and easy access to outdoors. The doors open out onto a small patio area that has outdoor seating that is ideal for al fresco entertainment.

The bathroom on the ground floor of this extension was refurbished with a simple design including a shower bath for ultimate convenience. We understand the importance of space, so a shower bath was installed to save space while gaining the bath and shower option for our client. The shower also has a fixed head and a second smaller detachable head to ensure full accessibility. The white tiling offers a clean, classic bathroom look. The bathroom also includes a heated towel rail to dry towels and offer a warm towel to dry off after a bath or shower. The sink has storage below to discreetly store toiletries and a mirror cabinet has been mounted for additional storage.
